Château Coutet Description
Thomas Jefferson celebrated Chateau Coutet as the best Sauternes from Barsac during his ambassadorship to France. In 1855, recognized for its continued excellence, the estate was classified as a first growth.
The nose presents lovely aromatic notes of ripe white fruits (peach, nectarine, pear). The palate is round and smooth, with a good balance between freshness and alcohol, certainly with an average amplitude but with finesse and the elegance of an aromatic return marked by exotic fruits and a small spicy tip (sweet spices, nutmeg). Pleasant length, on the freshness and charm more than the power, of a vintage "with capricious weather", but whose cool Barsac terroir has preserved the typicality of the wine.
