Inspired by our origins and how our liquid was first crafted in the early 1800s, The Glenlivet Illicit Still is a limited edition whisky that has not been chill filtered for an authentic taste.
Before George Smith licensed his distillery in 1824, the remote Glenlivet valley was the perfect setting for illicit whisky trade.
Scotch whisky was distilled in handcrafted, small copper stills in hidden away bothies. It was back then that George started making what would soon become a world-renowned single malt scotch whisky which reshaped the conventions of the time, expanding people’s horizons in taste and setting the signature fruity floral Speyside style. The Glenlivet 12 Year Old – Illicit Still is our way of never forgetting where it all began. This limited edition pays tribute to our founder’s original, illegally distilled, Glenlivet whisky.
